Fundraising Manager

Welcome to the community of Abbotsleigh. Abbotsleigh is a pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 Anglican day and Boarding school for girls located in Wahroonga, Upper North Shore. The Role

The Fundraising Manager develops and implements school community and old girl engagement plans and fundraising strategies. With a strong foundation of positive relationships with parents and old girls, the Fundraising Manager will plan and drive fundraising, capital appeals, annual giving, bequests, and major gifts to the School. The role is within Abbotsleigh's Development Office, which is responsible for fundraising, community engagement, old girl relations, and communications, and this role works collaboratively with all Development team members in the processes of community engagement and communication.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

The Duties

We're looking for someone who is innovative and creative in pursuing fundraising opportunities for the Foundation. They will be self-driven, exceptionally organised, and highly motivated with a can-do attitude. The Fundraising Manager will cultivate relationships within and outside the School to solicit contributions to the School’s key projects and to the Abbotsleigh Foundation’s funds; these include Scholarship and Building DGR Endorsed Funds. Success in the role will be measured by the enhancement and sustaining of donor relationships, the financial success of fundraising initiatives, and the efficiency of development plans.               

Specific Requirements     

  • Experience in planning, development, and execution of relationship management and fundraising strategies, including major gift fundraising
  • Demonstrated ability to engage the commitment and support of potential donors and to build relationships
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience writing for a professional audience and an eye for detail
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a flexible communication style enable you to work with a range of stakeholders inside and outside an organisation
  • Demonstrated commitment to and interest in development work in the education sector
  • Demonstrated time-management skills and experience working with minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer literacy and the ability to learn software applicable to the position’s requirements. Ideally, experience working with donor management databases and a high level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Accountabilities

  • Plan, implement, and monitor fundraising, community engagement, and relationship-building activities
  • Work with the Director to plan and implement fundraising strategies for annual giving, major gift programs, and capital campaigns
  • Work with the Director to research and apply for grants and philanthropic submissions to potential funding bodies available to the education sector
  • Sustain an engaged School community
  • Identify prospective donors, conduct prospect research, maintain an accurate donor database, and produce fundraising reports
  • Coordinate fundraising events and Foundation functions
  • Manage and develop positive relationships with existing donors and monitor and build relationships with prospective donors
  • Optimise communication systems with donors with a focus on positive and purposeful relationships and efficiency
  • Ensure all development activities comply with legislation, ethical standards, and the Christian ethos of the School

About our Team

The Fundraising Manager will work collaboratively within the Development department, undertaking responsibilities within the team, as required by the Director of Development and Community Relations. The successful applicant is expected to support and participate in the co-curricular activities and the Christian life of the School.
