Start Term 1 2026 | Permanent Full-time | Reports to Head of PDHPE
Empowering girls through holistic education and lifelong wellbeing, Abbotsleigh is seeking a passionate and experienced PDHPE teacher to join our vibrant learning community from the beginning of 2026. This full-time role offers the opportunity to inspire confident, healthy, and resilient young women through innovative teaching and meaningful engagement.
As a member of our PDHPE faculty, you will deliver inclusive, evidence-based programs across Stage 4 and 5 PDHPE, Stage 5 PASS, Stage 6 Health and Movement Science, and Stage 5 IGCSE Physical Education, fostering a dynamic learning environment that supports physical literacy, critical thinking, and personal growth. You will be part of a collaborative team committed to excellence in teaching and student wellbeing.
About the Role
The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge, competence, and confidence in:
- Teaching Stage 4/5 PDHPE - Stage 5 PASS & Stage 6 Health and Movement Science
- Designing inclusive, engaging lessons that promote physical literacy and critical health thinking, with a focus on how girls learn best
- Contributing to curriculum development and departmental planning
- Supporting students in developing wellbeing, resilience, and leadership through physical activity
- Engaging in pastoral care and supporting student wellbeing
- Participating in whole-school initiatives and co-curricular programs
Qualifications
- Relevant teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation
- Demonstrated experience teaching a wide range of PDHPE courses
- Strong understanding of contemporary health education, inquiry-based learning, and effective assessment design.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A collaborative, reflective approach to teaching and learning
