Start Term 1 2026 | Permanent Full-time | Reports to Head of PDHPE

Empowering girls through holistic education and lifelong wellbeing, Abbotsleigh is seeking a passionate and experienced PDHPE teacher to join our vibrant learning community from the beginning of 2026. This full-time role offers the opportunity to inspire confident, healthy, and resilient young women through innovative teaching and meaningful engagement.

As a member of our PDHPE faculty, you will deliver inclusive, evidence-based programs across Stage 4 and 5 PDHPE, Stage 5 PASS, Stage 6 Health and Movement Science, and Stage 5 IGCSE Physical Education, fostering a dynamic learning environment that supports physical literacy, critical thinking, and personal growth. You will be part of a collaborative team committed to excellence in teaching and student wellbeing.

About the Role 

The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge, competence, and confidence in:

  • Teaching Stage 4/5 PDHPE - Stage 5 PASS & Stage 6 Health and Movement Science
  • Designing inclusive, engaging lessons that promote physical literacy and critical health thinking, with a focus on how girls learn best
  • Contributing to curriculum development and departmental planning
  • Supporting students in developing wellbeing, resilience, and leadership through physical activity
  • Engaging in pastoral care and supporting student wellbeing
  • Participating in whole-school initiatives and co-curricular programs

Qualifications

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation
  • Demonstrated experience teaching a wide range of PDHPE courses
  • Strong understanding of contemporary health education, inquiry-based learning, and effective assessment design.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A collaborative, reflective approach to teaching and learning
