The Role

Abbotsleigh is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate full-time Geography teacher to join our HSIE Department for a short stint in 2026. The successful candidate will be an educator who is highly motivated to support Abbotsleigh to maintain and develop learning and innovation, ensure continued academic achievement, and inspire, engage, and value every girl. They will also be responsible for the well-being of a small tutor group. This is a great opportunity for graduate teachers looking for a new challenge teaching Years 7 - 10.

What You’ll Do
• Deliver engaging Year 7–10 Geography lessons grounded in contemporary geographical concepts and issues.
• Design inquiry-based, place-based, and experiential learning activities that build spatial thinking and geographic literacy.
• Foster students’ skills in geographical inquiry, including collecting, analysing, and interpreting data.
• Collaborate closely with the Humanities/HSIE faculty to ensure cohesive curriculum implementation across stages.
• Integrate technology, GIS tools, and digital resources meaningfully into your teaching practice.
• Assess and report on student learning using varied, authentic, and standards‑aligned assessment strategies.
• Provide pastoral care and support students’ wellbeing and holistic development.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, faculty initiatives, and whole‑school programs.
• Participate in professional learning, co‑curricular activities, and school events.

What You’ll Bring
• Recognised teaching qualifications and accreditation.
• Strong background in teaching Geography (Stage 4–5 NSW curriculum experience highly regarded).
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
