Abbotsleigh has a wonderful opportunity for an engaging and highly motivated Christian Studies Teacher to join our dynamic Christian Studies department on a temporary 12‑month maternity leave contract.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding educator who is passionate about Christian Studies, committed to excellence in teaching, and eager to support Abbotsleigh in nurturing confident, thoughtful and faith‑informed young women. They will inspire each girl to develop a love of deep learning and a growing understanding of the Christian faith.

The role

This part‑time position (approximately 0.52 FTE) involves teaching Years 7–12 Christian Studies and contributing positively to the Christian life of the School. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Knowledge, competence and confidence in teaching Christian Studies across secondary year levels
  • A willingness to continue learning and growing professionally in Christian education
  • Excellence in pedagogy appropriate to teaching faith in both academic and lived contexts
  • A genuine commitment to fostering student engagement, reflection and curiosity
  • The role calls for a teacher who models Christian faith and values both inside and outside the classroom and who communicates with students, colleagues and parents in a respectful, professional and constructive manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess engaging Christian Studies lessons for girls in Years 7–12
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback that builds confidence and encourages ongoing exploration
  • Support the Christian ethos and values of Abbotsleigh in all aspects of school life
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Christian Studies department and year groups
  • Participate in the co‑curricular program and the wider Christian life of the School
FTE and Teaching Load
  • 14 (75-minute) lessons (0.52 FTE)
  • Plus 2 duties and 2 on‑calls, scheduled within teaching days
  • Indicative working days are structured across a fortnightly cycle (Weeks A and B), with a combination of full and partial days.
